Waterproofing

Construction waterproofing as protection for moisture damage in building construction

70% of all German registered structural damage is caused by faulty or incorrectly installed structure sealing. In addition, the execution of waterproofing according to the latest state of the art technology, the use of high quality products is essential “Easy to apply, reliable results” therefore called the maxim by which we of B.T. develop, manufacture and market innovative building technology..

Waterproofing from concrete – the waterproof concrete tanking

Soil moisture, pressure from non-accumulated seepage as well as pressurized (see basement waterproofing) and non-pressurized water (see waterproofing foundation) can impact the ground of the outer surface from structure. Depending on the type of attack as well as existing building ground and the type of exposure, different sealing and waterproofing methods are known and effective. Many surveyors see the waterproof concrete tanking as economic and comparatively easy to devise a standard. This closed basement made of concrete is produced with a high resistance to water according to DIN EN 206-1 and DIN 1045-2 for the preparation of the specifications of the DafStb (German Committee for Reinforced Concrete) “water impermeable concrete structures” will be applied.

Compared to clay waterproofing or plastic waterproofing, in the building exterior surfaces a waterproof blanket after DIN 18195 will be raised, the waterproof concrete tanking without additional waterproofing membranes will be built. For the construction, site concrete along with formwork system or a system of prefabricated wall elements (formwork elements), the so named triple walls, can be used.

Joint sealing – vulnerabilities in the waterproof concrete tanking to prevent

A waterproof concrete tanking will absolutely be waterproof, for all in the industry of sealing a high measure on attention and expertise is required. Construction joints must already be taken into account in the planning and sealed on site with high quality sealing materials (for instance ).

Especially for working and crack control joints, SynkoElast® is a waterproofing tape from BT Innovation made of polymer bitumen base. SynkoElast® increases when it is used not alone with seepage by chemically combining with the concrete.

RubberElast® can be used as water-proof sealing tape at corresponding joints also successfully seal precast concrete components and not only adheres to concrete, but also to other materials such as glass or metal.

Weak sealants will not be needed, environmentally friendly InnoElast® offers a permanent sealing solution. The one-component sealant, for example, ideally suited for permeation and is applied directly from the cartridge.

Common for the waterproofing range from waterproof concrete tanking to seam joints, PVC tapes, or swelling tapes. In comparison to these methods, the waterproofing products form BT Innovation are an overall easy to process, permanently elastic and durable. Expensive on-site work like welding of the seam joints (overlapping is not good enough!) are omitted altogether. This means saving time as well as minimizing possible sources of errors in your construction.

WU-construction after sealing

Joints in the waterproof concrete tanking, especially the construction joints, represent a significant weak point and must be sealed subsequently in many cases in the context of a concrete repair. Defects can usually be located well, a repair from the building interior is possible. This is however only possible if the existing water pressure is not too high (max. 1-1.5m water depth). With the B.T. InnoElast® products and ProElast® can also be added later to make a permanent elastic concrete waterproofing.

Basis of many modern sealants for permanent and elastic sealing of joints for optimum density are today known as MS polymers from which can UV-stable, fast curing with good adhesion, elastoplastic sealants be produced. Our MS-Polymer in contrast to conventional products require no primer. This makes the B.T. sealants particularly economical and safe to process.

In comparison, sealants, polyurethane (PU) based as they are often used for the sealing of construction joints, for the balcony, in the basement or on the terrace, have a higher dependency on the weather circumstances, especially in terms of curing time. Furthermore, structural seals made of PU are less resistant to aging and weathering and have no good environmental friendliness due to the containment of isocyanates.

Subsequent surface sealant for waterproofing

Not only for the subsequent sealing of WU-concrete is LiquidElast® from BT innovation suitable. The brush and pourable sealing system forms after curing a rubbery, waterproof membrane that is water resistant up to 1.2 bar. Affected areas may be protected by these waterproofing subsequently against moisture. LiquidElast® is a good alternative to sealing grout.

LiquidElast® is from the positive side that is applied to the side of the pending water. A coating on the inside could lead to a detachment of the LiquidElast® from the wall. LiquidElast® is used as a waterproofing assembly and an additional back pressure for example a screed layer over the LiquidElast® is generated on the ground. The component material is easy to process in almost all conditions and is liable on wet surfaces. The maximum crack bridging is 5 mm.

The applicable for the same purpose bituminous thick coatings as Façade protection, however, are dependent on weather conditions in the order, the surface must be absolutely dry, so as not to interfere with the adhesion. In many cases, a primer is required in advance to ensure the adhesion. Existing cracks are bridged up to a width of 2 mm. Bituminous thick coatings are furthermore not as environmentally friendly as they are derived from petroleum and are suspected of causing cancer. In addition, the durability in the long run proves to be very bad
